Licensing policies

A list of our licensing policies.

Queue Policy

The venues front door will be protected by metal crowed control barriers. They will be positioned along the side walk. Depending on anticipated numbers we will operate a double backed queuing system.

The queue will be managed by door staff to ensure no queue jumping and an orderly queue is maintained.

Any unruly behaviour, drinking in the queue, evidence of intoxication will be reported via radio to the head door who will take appropriate action. The action could include a warning or refusal based on individual circumstances.

In each instance where refusal or warnings are given, it should be logged on body cameras when possible.

If it becomes apparent that the queue is too big and customers will not be able to gain entry due to capacity reached, then the queue will be cut off. Anybody attempting to gain entry at this point will be encouraged to return another time.

Dispersal Policy

It will be the responsibility of two door staff wearing hi viz vests to monitor the customers leaving Coyote Ugly and entering. They will remain outside the front door of our premises to ensure the area directly outside is safe. It will be there responsibility to report any conflict via police radio and record. Two Door staff will wear hi viz vests and be clearly distinguishable.

Door staff will be on duty for dispersal 30 minutes before closure and 30 minutes after. Both door staff members will wear body cams each while outside.

Balcony Policy

Venues with balconies will be available to pre-booked party’s and VIP’s only on busy nights. This area will be used for food and drinks where waitress service will apply. The balcony will have an extended safety net to protect the crowed below from accidentally dropped drinks or other items.
Only customers with appropriate wristbands will be allowed up to the balcony to ensure that the capacity of the area will not be exceeded.
Security personnel will ensure that the balcony is monitored at all times. Customers leaning over the balcony with drink in hand will be asked to move away or place their drink on table behind them.

Security will be responsible for monitoring the pouring of drinks at tables. Ensuring that spirits are not decanted direct into mouth or in any other irresponsible way.

The balcony will operate with one door staff per side, with each door staff being responsible for each respective side. If we decide to section one side off, then only one door person will monitor.
Table Service

Table Service Policy

There will be food and drinks served to tables in the ground floor booths opposite the bar and upstairs in the balcony. This will be done by our Coyotes and monitored by the management team & security.

Tables will be served with spirits of their choice along with unlimited post mix mixers or 10 Red Bulls for increased fee. Spirit bottles will be served with 25ml ball shot pourers to ensure no over pouring occurs.

Waitresses will always offer more soft drinks to ensure that weakened drinks are always the option.

When bookings are being taken, a guide of 4 people to one bottle of 40% abv 70cl spirit will be in place. This policy will be communicated a booking stage.

The nature of our business dictates that close interaction between our staff and the customers takes place. This provides excellent opportunities to constantly monitor levels of intoxication and take appropriate action.

Staff will be trained to report high levels of intoxication or unruly behaviour to security as soon as possible where they will deal with potential conflict situations.

Music Policy

Our music will be a key factor in the atmosphere that we generate. The core music policy will revolve around good time rock n roll, party, country & western and pop anthems.

This will be controlled via DJ from early evening or a set playlist on quitter nights. During the day a juke box will be available for customers to choose any song they like. When no customer selection is made, the jukebox will be programmed to play the above policy.

Microphone Policy

Coyotes and DJ’s will follow a policy of non-discrimination against sexual orientation, religion, race, disability or age. They will be encouraged to be engage with the customer one to one with personal interaction. They are never to be offensive or rude or will face disciplinary action.

To be no mention of football teams or rival fans, encouraging football chanting or singing.

Intoxication Policy

It is an offensive to be intoxicated on the premises of Coyote Ugly Saloon. As responsible operators we will employ security staff to ensure patrons that are already intoxicated do not gain entry to the premises. Once rejected entry, a record will be kept in the refusal log.
Signs to identify an intoxicated person include

* Slurred Speech
* Loss of balance
* Glazed eyes
* Overwhelming smell of alcohol
* Aggressive or boisterous behaviour

Any customers inside the venue that reaches a level of intoxication deemed too far will firstly be assed as to the severity. Security or Management will decide if medical assistance is required before ejection. Friends or partners will be found to ensure individuals are not left to fend for themselves.

Any customer requiring assistance will be taken to our first aid treatment room where their condition will be monitored by trained first aider.

If emergency attention is required they will stay with a first aider until an ambulance crew arrives. Managers must carry a mobile phone for emergency calls.

On major sporting event days 2 members of staff will be employed as “intoxication marshals”. There sole purpose will be to walk the venue and identify customers too intoxicated or on their way. They will offer water or get security to assist with removal.

Vulnerable Person Policy

Any vulnerable customers identified as being separated from friends and alone will be offered assistance to help find them.
Customers in need of assistance will be seated in our first aid room and covered by CCTV.

If they decide to leave on their own accord and ignore help, it will be communicated via Business Safe Radio to track on town cameras.

If police officers are in view, Door staff are to approach and alert as well as via radio net.

Admission Policy

All visitors to Coyote Ugly Saloon will be admitted irrespective of their colour, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation or disability as long as they meet our criteria. They must be over the age of 18 with ID if challenge 25 has applied. No customer will be admitted under the influence of any illegal drug. No intoxicated customers are to be granted entry.

In addition, customer that do not meet the dress code, refuse a search, show signs of aggression, are known for violence or on banned list will not gain entry. Police approved breathalysers will be available to help diffuse potential arising disputes over intoxication levels.

Last entry will be an hour before terminal hour.

Ejection Policy

Any potential situation must be approached with a calm and professional manner. Conflict management skills must be used in order to help prevent situations escalating. All ejections where a situation has been calmed will be walked out via the front door. The customer will be given the opportunity to be escorted without the need for restraints.

If a situation becomes more heated, then only fire exit 3 (downstairs) or 4 (upstairs) can be used. This is for CCTV coverage reasons.
In either event, clear radio communication with the head door and venue manager must be made.

In all scenarios, a manager must be called to attend and witness the ejection or assist in resolving the situation.

If possible, the door staff that ejected the customer will return to position asap to reduce potential conflict arising with customer that’s just been removed.

Once outside, if the customer is abusive / aggressive then it must be reported via radio to police.

No staff are to engage in petty arguments and will remain professional and impartial.

Where possible, body cams are to attend to capture event.

Customers that are asked to leave on grounds of intoxication are to assessed and taken to first aid room if necessary.

Incident Report Policy

An incident report must be produced for any conflict, allegation, drug seizure or accident. These reports will be kept on file for up to 5 years.
All reports must be written up by end of night in a sequential incident log book and signed off by management.

Challenge 25 Policy

Coyote Ugly Saloon operates a Challenge 25 policy. If you are fortunate enough to look under 25 you will be asked for ID. Excepted forms of ID include Driving Licence, Passport and ID that carries the Pass Hologram.

If the customer is challenged for identification and cannot produce, they will be denied entry and details added to refusal log.

Drug Policy

Coyote Ugly Saloon operates a zero tolerance policy on drugs. With the venues search policy in place, random searches will be conducted if suspicion is raised. Any customer found with any type or illegal drug will be removed from the premises and not welcomed back.
Drugs will be seized and logged by door staff and dropped in safe by venue management.

A judgement call will be made as to the severity of find. Very small quantities of a class B for personal use can be dealt with via seizure and release. Any large quantities of any drug or small quantities of Class A will be reported to police.

Anybody found with drugs on possession will not be allowed entry to venue.

In all cases body cams must be at scene to capture searches.

Search Policy

Customers will on entry be randomly selected for searches. If a search is refused then entry will be denied. A record of refusal will be added to the entry log. The venue will be patrolled by security who will randomly search customers already in the premises. Toilets will be checked at least 4 times per hour for any suspicious activity whereupon a search will be conducted if deemed necessary. If a search is refused the customer will be given the option to leave. All searches will be logged.

Smoking Area Policy

The smoking area will be adjoined to the front door allowing easy monitoring by door staff. It will be policy to have one member of door staff inside the smoking area at peak trading times to ensure no jumping of barriers occurs.

Barriers will be in place at a height to stop customer jumping in or out. Metal crowed control barriers will be positioned directly in front under canopy.

Glass & Plastic Policy

We will comply with any reasonable request with regards style and weight of polycarb vessels that fits within current licencing objectives. Our current choice of vessel will be the Elite 10oz Hiball (M16) and the Elite 20oz Tulip (M16). These vessels will be used from 11pm onwards when trading past 3am. Trade before 11pm will be with toughened brewery produced glassware.

Food Policy

A full American BBQ Menu with three course options will be available from Midday till 10pm. After 10pm we will operate a minimised menu to caterer for late night refreshment. This will include items such as Cheeseburgers & Chips.

All knives and forks must be put away out of sight after 10pm and food served thereafter will be finger food or plastic forks provided.

CCTV Policy

The CCTV will be checked daily as part of opening procedures and signed for to confirm that all cameras are operational and correct time is set. CCTV will be kept for a period of 31 days and be made available to police upon request.

Cameras are installed to cover all customer areas and fire escapes. Coverage will also extend across the front of the premises to cover part of the public sidewalk of St Marys Street.

A fully trained member of staff will be available to carry out requests. Three Body Cameras will be used at peak trading times when the venue is fully open and operational.

A 24/7 maintenance contract will be in place to repair any broken cameras as soon as possible. If trading, use of body cams will cover the lost area no longer covered.

In-case of failure call 07548900645 24 hours a day for immediate repair.

Body Cam Policy

Body Cams are in use at Coyote Ugly. Cams must be worn at a ratio of one camera per three door staff. Even if only three door staff are working they must each wear a camera.

If an incident is about to occur, is occurring, or any contact with customers that could cause a conflict, the camera must be turned on to be used as evidence.

All rejections, drug searches, ejections, walk outs and warnings must be recorded at every opportunity.
If body cam footage has captured an incident, the time, date and body cam number must be recorded in incident log or minor incident file so to assist management or police investigations.

It is the responsibility of venue management to ensure footage is transferred to office computer at least once a week and files deleted from cams. Files must be transferred to relevant body cam serial number file for ease of future reference.

Glass Collection Policy

Our focus is to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for all users and it is every member of staffs’ responsibility to ensure that there is a minimum risk to both fellow staff and customers alike. Where possible toughened glass will be used and we will risk assess the need for plastic containers for specific events. We wish to cut down on any chance of broken glass by maintaining due diligence and clearing all bottles, glasses on a regular basis from the bar, toilet areas and other external areas of the building and its premises.

Staff (and security when present) also have a responsibility for the clearance of any glassware found either on the floor or in a hazardous position, both inside and out of the venue. When walking the floor, all staff will look out for any hazard that could constitute a risk to fellow staff or customers, which could include spillages, broken glass, bottles or glass on the floor. Should anyone come across any risks then they must both dry the spillage and remove the offending items.

Customers will be advised that they are not allowed to take any glassware from the vicinity of the premises to minimise the areas at risk of spillages and breaking incidents to the confines of the premises.

The bar top will constantly be monitored by security. It will be cleared and wiped down at all times to ensure dry surface for girls to dance on.

First Aid Policy

All customer and staff requiring first aid treatment will be taken to the first aid room located opposite the ground floor toilets in the main lobby. This area will be covered by CCTV and contain sufficient supplies of medical equipment. Accident reporting book will be kept within this room.

Toilet Checks

When door staff are on duty toilet checks must be carried out and logged within the door staff file located on front door. At least four per hour at completely random times must be completed. Checks will be made for drug use and suspicious behaviour. Bar staff will also be required to attend at the same intervals and report to management any suspicious activity whilst checking for cleanliness.

Dancing on the Bar Policy

The coyotes will control the bar. They decide who gets up and when. Security will be within close proximity at all times during peak trading hours to ensure any girl on the bar is not inappropriately touched.

If the Coyotes decide no one is to get up then so be it. Girls only to be allowed on the bar. No intoxicated females that could potentially fall will be allowed. If customers are stumbling, slurring speech or displaying aggressive/boisterous behaviour they will be alerted to security where they will decide on appropriate action.

The bar will constantly be cleared of drinks and spillages by all staff.

Women with inappropriate footwear ie stiletto heels, will not be allowed to wear these while on the bar due to poor ankle support.
Staff must wear rubber soled boots.

No drinking alcohol while dancing on the bar. Drinks will be left with friends or on back of the bar.
A maximum number of 12 people will be on the bar at any one time. Door staff and Coyotes will be responsible for ensuring numbers are maintained.

Drinks Policy

Coyote Ugly will operate with a consistent tariff 7 days week. There will be special offer promotions on craft beers for the day time trade, for example 2 for £5 before 7pm.

Staff will be trained not to serve multiple drinks to individuals. For example a customer ordering 10 shots of 40% Sambuca would be requested to prove they are not all for their own consumption.

Sexual Harassment Policy

Unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favours, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature constitute sexual harassment when:

1) An employment decision affecting that individual is made because the individual submitted to or rejected the unwelcome conduct; or
2) The unwelcome conduct unreasonably interferes with an individual's work performance or creates an intimidating, hostile, or abusive work environment.

Certain behaviour, such as conditioning promotions, awards, training or other job benefits upon acceptance of unwelcome actions of a sexual nature, are always wrong.

Unwelcome actions such as the following are inappropriate and, depending on the circumstances, may in and of themselves meet the definition of sexual harassment or contribute to a hostile work environment:

* Sexual pranks, or repeated sexual teasing, jokes, or innuendo, in person or via e-mail;
* Verbal abuse of a sexual nature;
* Touching or grabbing of a sexual nature;
* Repeatedly standing too close to or brushing up against a person;
* Repeatedly asking a person to socialise during off-duty hours when the person has said no or has indicated he or she is not interested (supervisors in particular should be careful not to pressure their employees to socialise);
* Giving gifts or leaving objects that are sexually suggestive;
* Repeatedly making sexually suggestive gestures;
* Making or posting sexually demeaning or offensive pictures, cartoons or other materials in the workplace;
* Off-duty, unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature that affects the work environment.

A victim of sexual harassment can be a man or a woman. The victim can be of the same sex as the harasser. The harasser can be a supervisor, co-worker, other Department employee, or a non-employee who has a business relationship with Coyote Ugly Saloon or customer.
