About Coyote Ugly Saloon and the UK venues.

On January 27th, 1993, the Coyote Ugly Saloon first opened its doors to the public in New York. It was an instant success!

A few years later, our CEO and Founder, Lilian Lovell had perfected her bar and Coyote Ugly Saloon quickly established itself in the hearts of New Yorkers as their preeminent drinking establishment. It gained national attention in early 1997 when a story called “The Muse of the Coyote Ugly Saloon” written by former Coyote bartender Elizabeth Gilbert for GQ magazine: shined a spotlight on the little bar in the East Village.

Shortly after that, Hollywood came knocking and the movie rights to Lil’s story were sold. “Coyote Ugly” opened in August 2000, starring Piper Perabo and Maria Bello. It has grossed over $100 million and a worldwide audience quickly learned what the phrase “We don’t serve water here!” meant.

Serving cheap tequila from a boot, bartending with boa constrictors, and just doing whatever the hell Lil wanted are what made the Coyote great. Even though things have changed, Lil’s Coyote Ugly Saloons are still run with the same mission statement. Quick wit, unshakable assurance, and the ability to take your last dollar has made Coyote Ugly what it is today; with multiple venues around the world including USA, Japan, Russia and the UK.

“It is funny to me that to this day my parents are still asking when I am going to put my college education to use. I say it is my education that got me off the streets of New York and that has spawned a successful business and a movie and television series about my bar. Twenty years and a million bar antics later, Coyote Ugly is now a household name. Thanks, Sister Jean Baptiste! (I wonder if she ever saw the movie?)” Lil

Coyote Ugly’s first bar in the United Kingdom opened in Cardiff in December 2016 with subsequent bars opening in Liverpool, Swansea, Manchester and Birmingham. Today the expansion continues in the UK and abroad with the same goal of providing a fun environment for a great night out!

DRESS CODE

We don't have any daft rules about the colour of your shoes or whether your shirt is from a certain team.  We not only allow fancy dress, we encourage it.  All we ask is that you do not turn up looking like you've just come from the gym.

WILL I BE ASKED FOR ID?

All customers will be asked to provide ID before entry into the venue which may be scanned before entry, but you are not obliged to do so, but the management reserve the right to refuse entry. If you’re lucky enough to look younger than 25 please be prepared to prove your age at any time with valid identification. If you do get asked for ID please don’t be offended. Please note that all Coyote Ugly Saloon venues operate a Challenge 25 policy.

We will accept a photo card driving licence, passport, or PASS identification card bearing the PASS hologram. In conjunction with local authority guidance, we operate an ID seizure policy whereby any false ID will be confiscated and handed over to the police. For more information on The National Proof of Age Standards Scheme (PASS) please visit their website at www.pass-scheme.org.uk.

Please note that refunds are issued to the credit/debit cards used for payment and can take up to 10 working days to process.

WILL I BE SEARCHED?

We operate a random search policy of customers, in the interest of customer safety. This search policy may be implemented depending on the type of event taking place, risk assessment or on advice of the police. We operate a zero tolerance policy on drugs and anyone suspected of taking or dealing in drugs will be searched and/or ejected from the venue. In instances where drugs are found customers will be detained and the matter will be reported to the police.  Again, our policy is random, so if you are selected, please bear with us and we thank you for your understanding.

I’VE SENT THE bar A MESSAGE VIA THE CONTACT US FORM, WHEN CAN I EXPECT A REPLY?

As a late night venue our office hours can differ from a typical 9-5 business. We do our best to reply to customers within two working days.  If you have any concerns, please give the venue a call on the telephone number provided in the “Contact Us” link between 1pm and 4pm.

I’VE LEFT AN ITEM IN THE bar, WHAT DO I DO NEXT?

If an item is found in the venue or left in the cloakroom and not collected we’ll endeavour to store the item until it is claimed, within a reasonable timeframe. If you’ve lost an item please visit the venue with as much detail about the item as possible, where it was left (if you’re aware) and when. The more detail you give us the easier it is for us to attempt to locate your item.
