Long before Coyote Ugly became the world's most famous bar, it was a bold idea born in the heart of New York City.

In 1993, Liliana "Lil" Lovell opened the very first Coyote Ugly Saloon in Manhattan's East Village. With little money but a huge vision, Lil set out to create something completely different from the typical American bar. Forget predictable nights out.. this was a place where personality came first, bartenders became entertainers, country music filled the room and every guest felt part of the party.

The tiny New York saloon became famous for its fearless Coyote bartenders, dancing on the bar, live entertainment, unforgettable atmosphere and unapologetically wild energy. It wasn't just somewhere to grab a drink.. it became one of New York City's must-visit nightlife destinations.
From a Local Bar to a global icon
The legend grew even bigger when GQ Magazine published an article about the Coyote Ugly Saloon,
introducing readers to the world's wildest bar.
The article inspired the iconic 2000 Hollywood film, Coyote Ugly, starring Piper Perabo, Maria Bello, Tyra Banks, Bridget Moynahan, and John Goodman. The film introduced Coyote Ugly to audiences around the globe,
turning a neighbourhood bar into an international phenomenon.
